"I had a bathroom exhaust fan that I thought needed replacement. The fan was making a noise and the lighted cover fixture had broken away from the unit. The repairman arrived, diagnosed the problem and gave me estimates for replacement. But he then did the unexpected, he diagnosed that he could repair the lighted cover fixture and that the fan simply needed a bit of cleaning from time to time. Rather than move forward toward replacing the entire unit, he took the cover to his truck, repaired it and shared that powder accumulated in the fan once cleaned returns the sound to a smooth sound. Most surprisingly, he only charged me for the service call and saved me $350 to $500 had I replaced the unit. I so appreciate HEP. Living in a rural county 30 to 45 miles outside of Knoxville, it is often difficult to find repairmen. This repairman came from Knoxville, took care of my problem and saved me a lot of money. I appreciate HEP, glad they are there and will count on them in the future."

I can honestly say these guys not only did an excellent job but were so helpful in getting me what i needed done the fast way possible. They all went above and beyond for my family and I. The electrical issues I had with my home was horrible. Ric and Ryan eased my mind and helped me make a very difficult decision on how to proceed in getting the issues fixed. If it hadn't been for these two making me feel comfortable and feel lie I could trust them I might have looked at other options. So thank you both for explaining things to me and showing me first hand how important it was for to get this fixed ASAP. You guys (all of them) all the best. Thank you for all your hard work. The HEP Approach to Electrical Fixtures Work in Powell

Thorough Site Assessment

Before any wire is stripped or junction box opened, HEP electricians perform an in-depth walkthrough. Key considerations include:

  • Load calculations for existing circuits
  • Panel capacity and breaker suitability
  • Wire gauge and insulation integrity
  • Local zoning or HOA restrictions
  • Fixture placement relative to HVAC vents and structural members

Code Compliance and Permitting

Powell follows the National Electrical Code (NEC) with additional regional requirements. HEP secures necessary permits and schedules inspections when required, ensuring every fixture passes the stringent criteria enforced by municipal authorities.

Detailed Installation Process

  1. Power Isolation: Circuits are de-energized and locked out at the panel.
  2. Old Fixture Removal: Existing fixtures are detached carefully to avoid drywall damage.
  3. Box Inspection: Junction boxes are checked for capacity, grounding, and support.
  4. Wiring Upgrades: If aluminum wiring, outdated insulation, or improperly spliced conductors are found, HEP replaces or re-terminates them with copper and modern connectors.
  5. Fixture Mounting: Hardware is anchored to studs or fan-rated braces, ensuring long-term stability.
  6. Connection & Testing: Hot, neutral, and ground conductors are terminated using torque-screw terminals or Wago lever nuts as appropriate.
  7. Final Inspection: Voltage, continuity, and polarity checks confirm safe operation before power is restored.
